Find out what you owe the IRD in 2 minutes
For anyone living in Sri Lanka — paid from abroad, paid in rupees, or both.
437+ professionals have already filed with Kiwi
“honestly doing my taxes with Kiwi was so easy... they walked me through the whole process and a pro had it filed within a few days”
Akshai Y.Senior IT Business AnalystWho is this for?
Freelancing or salaried, here or abroad
Income from abroad is taxable here, and what comes through a bank is capped at 15%. Rupee income has to be declared too. Nobody tells you either.
Freelancers & consultants
You bill for your work. There is no payroll.
- You invoice per job, for clients here or abroad
- Anything deducted was an advance, not your bill
- Nobody files anything on your behalf

Employees & remote workers
You are on a payroll, here or overseas.
- An overseas employer deducts nothing at all
- Tax off your payslip is not a filed return
- Savings interest or a second job can put you in scope

Not sure which one you are?
Totally normal. Your contract decides it, and that changes what you can claim. Your accountant sorts it out when they read it.
What changed in 2026
Not filing is a criminal offence now
- 30 day written notice from IRD
- Up to 6 months in prison
- Up to Rs. 400,000 in fines
Most people think nothing really happens if you never file. The IRD writes to you first. Ignore that letter for 30 days and you can be taken to court, and end up with a criminal record.
And on top of that, where do you even start?
- I don’t even know if I have to file
- I don’t even know if I have a TIN
- Can I even deduct my expenses?
- I’ve missed a few years already
- What if I file it wrong?
What we cover
Here is everything we take off your plate
You answer eight questions. We do the rest.
- 2 min
- To understand and see how much you owe
- 3 days
- Or less, from documents to filing them*
- 10+
- Chartered accountants behind us
Getting you registered
You need a TIN before you can file. We get you one, or find the one you forgot you had.
Working out what you owe
Every income source sorted correctly. We flag whether yours qualifies for the 15% cap, since how you get paid decides it.
Finding what you can claim
Every expense you’re allowed to deduct. Plus tax you already paid abroad, claimed back.
Filing the return
Prepared, reviewed and approved by a chartered accountant, submitted. We track the deadlines.
Helping you pay it
Where, how much, by when. We set up the payment and keep the receipts. Instalments too.
Dealing with the IRD
Every letter comes to us, not you. If they come back with a question, we handle it.
Earning in rupees as well? That is covered too. Tell us when you sign up.

Count your income sources, not your income. Rs. 10,000 for the first and Rs. 5,000 for each one after — in any combination.
Any income paid from abroad — salary, freelance or consultancy — starts at Rs. 25,000, however many rupee sources or countries sit alongside it. Rent adds Rs. 5,000.
All prices are in Sri Lankan rupees, including for foreign income.
Checking what you owe is free. You pay when you hire your expert.
Questions people actually ask
No. We help you sort out your TIN, work out what you need to file, and take it from there.
Bank statements, any invoices or payslips, and your NIC. If something’s missing we’ll tell you where to get it.
A chartered accountant prepares and approves every return. We handle the paperwork and the IRD.
We never ask for banking passwords or card details. What you send goes to your accountant and nobody else.
We fix it and re-file, free. And we deal with the IRD about it, not you.
After the free check, before we start work. Bank transfer for now. Card payments soon.
These plans are for personal tax. A company files separately, which is a different service. Get in touch.
Yes. Sri Lanka taxes you on income from anywhere, including money paid from abroad. Your accountant works out the rate that applies to you.
Your local bank sees money arriving from abroad. And since 2026, not filing can end up in court — whatever your income. That’s the real reason to do it.
